Note to our Orthodontic Mini-Resiency Doctors: This is our two-day hands-on Team training course, which is a required part of our Online Comprehensive Orthodontic Mini-Residency. You are required to take NOA 303L and NOA 309L for graduation. These courses (NOA 303L and NOA 309L) are offered twice a year in Columbus, Ohio on a rotating schedule, to accommodate our student’s busy schedules.

Educational Objectives

  1. Be familiar with the current levels of malocclusions.
  2. Learn how orthodontic malocclusions developed over the years.
  3. Learn the main cause of the development of orthodontic problems and crowding. 
  4. Learn the importance of orthodontic malocclusion on the level of dental decay, airway problems, sleep apnea, and facial esthetics.
  5. Learn how we measure orthodontic malocclusion.
  6. Be familiar with Angle’s classifications.
  7. Learn what is and how to take the standard of care orthodontic records.
  8. Learn the different levels of orthodontic care a general practitioner can provide for patients. 
  9. Learn several different orthodontic preventative and treatment methods to treat and prevent orthodontic malocclusions.
  10. Hands-on: Photography, Typodont bracketing, and banding. Wire sequence and placement, placing separators. Orthodontic instruments and their care, wire bends.
  11. Phase 1 orthodontic treatment.
  12. Place separators. Ordering expanders RPE, and seating them.
  13. Consents and contracts. Orthodontic coding and billing.
  14. Orthodontic treatment sequence. Photography, records processing, IPR, appliances, accessories (class II/III elastics, etc.), and retainers.
  15. The roles and expectations for the orthodontic team.
  16. Read Chapters 8, 9, and 10 in your Proffit textbook.
  17. Q&A
